The Philips Wake-Up Light Alarm Clock HF3500/01 is their entry model and cheapest version at around £60. It has everything you need to replace your standard alarm clock and reading light, and being an LED light it is cheap to run, there are no bulbs that need replacing and it won’t give off much heat compared to a bedside light for example.
Although this is the entry model it still has everything you need, it has a 30 minute duration light which will go up to 200 lux and has 10 brightness settings. If you want the alarm to wake you up at 7am then the light shall start to warm up and glow at 6.30am, 30 minutes before the alarm goes off. Over the 30 minutes the light shall get bright and brighter, you can set the maximum brightness the light goes too where there are 10 settings. When the clock strikes the time you want to get up the light shall be at its maximum brightness and an alarm shall sound. It is important to note that the alarm sound cannot be disabled on this model, so if you don’t want the alarm sound you may want to look at the next models up from this one.
Woken up and wish to sleep a little more, then there is also a snooze function, just tap the device and the alarm sound will stop and give you another 9 minutes of rest before sounding again.
The Philips Wake-Up Light Alarm Clock HF3500/01 can also be used as a beside reading light and can be adjusted in terms of brightness making it brighter or dimmer as required and ensuring you don’t disturb your partner sleeping next to you.
As with all Philips wake up lights it is a very stylish and modern design, the HF3500 model reminds me of a satellite dish to some sort of aircraft from star wars on its side.
It is slim and compact design with the main front the LED light section, within the centre of this is the controls and time which is displayed within a greyish circle in the middle. Here you can set the time, brightness and activate the alarm. It also displays the time in a orange shade in the middle, although it is not bright you cannot turn this off at night, so if you wish to hide the time then you would not be able to do this unless you place something in front of it, which would spoil the design and may effect the light when waking you up.
Ease of Use
It comes with a clear and easy to read instruction book, with the simple and easy to use buttons on the front it is quick to set up and get the hang of. The light comes with a short power lead which isn’t great, so you may need an extension lead as well depending on where your nearest plug socket is.

This Philips Wake-Up Light is a good entry alarm clock, it looks nice and doesn’t take up much space, it has all the functions you need and is quick and easy to use. It looks and works well and has everything you need, however although it has an alarm sound that is useful, if you didn’t want this on there is no way to turn it off so we recommend looking at the next model up.
